Obituary of Mary Phillips

Mrs. Mary Evans Phillips, age 67, of Jackson, GA, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA.  She was born on Sunday, September 10, 1950 in Jackson, GA to the late Lewis Akin Evans and the late Julia Myrtice Rosser Evans.  Mary was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  She was a retired bookkeeper at the Jackson First Baptist Church.  Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren “to the moon and back”.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Colwell, and brothers, Sheldon Evans and Jimmy Evans.

Mary is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donny Phillips; children, Devin Phillips, Justin and Brandy Phillips; grandchildren, Caden, Lucas, and Lily; brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Vanilu Evans; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Scott Chewning and Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating.  Interment will follow in Jackson City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Jackson High School Red Regiment Marching Band, 717 S Harkness St, Jackson, GA 30233.  Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfuneralhome.com
