Mrs. Mary Lane Carr, of Jackson, GA, died Sunday, December 12, 2010. She was born March 30, 1924 in Macon, GA to the late Hugh and Mary Lane Mallet. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling with her husband and family. She was a member of the Jackson United Methodist Church, Emanuel Sunday School Class, 50+ Club, Wesley Circle, and served on several church committees. Mrs. Carr was a member of the Retired Educators Association and Mimosa Garden Club. She was a resident of Dream Catchers in the Woods for seven years. Mary was lovingly referred to as "Mary the Good" because she was. Mrs. Carr is survived by 4 daughters and sons-in law, Lane and Paul Johnson, of Spring, TX, Lucia and Larry Fletcher, of Jackson, GA, Emily and Jed Jinks, of Dublin, GA, Kibbie and Mark Jones, of Marietta, GA; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane Anne and John Settle, of Jackson, GA, and Marcia and LeRoy Ades, of DeRidder, LA; sister-in-law, Carolyn Thaxton, of Jackson, GA; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Carr; sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Bill Johnston; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Cathy Mallet. Services for Mrs. Mary Carr will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Jackson United Methodist Church with Dr. John Brantley and Dr. Alice Rogers officiating. Interment will be at Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jackson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1880, Jackson, GA 30233. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest book at www.sherrellfh.com.
