Denise "Nesie" Lawrence Oxenford, age 62 of 278 Biles Road, Jackson, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at her residence. Ms. Oxenford was born January 3, 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Dennis Earl Lawrence and the late Betty Irene Cheek. Her love for animals was evident to all who knew and loved her. She was an animal rescuer, breeder and re-homed many cats and dogs. She loved her family and friends deeply and unconditionally, was a loving caregiver at heart. She was a Christian, prayer warrior and loved Jesus. She is survived by her "mama", Mary Lawrence, sisters; Sandy Tolleson and Robert, Kelly Cooley and Scott, niece; Brooke Tolleson, nephews; Christopher Adams and Hannah, Michael Adams and Brooke, great niece; Callie June Adams, aunts; Ruth Lawrence, Ruth Tully and Bobby, uncles; Neal Cheek and Betty, Larry Cheek, Jacky Cheek, many cousins and friends, the Oxenford family, and dear friend, Horace Stewart. A celebration of life service for Denise Oxenford will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Sherrell- Westbury Funeral Home, 212 East College St., Jackson, Georgia. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local animal shelter. Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home, 212 East College Street, Jackson, is serving the Oxenford family.
