Mr. Donnie Lawrence Gay, Sr., age 67, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at WellStar Atlanta Medical Center. Donnie was born on Wednesday, February 22, 1950 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Thomas Hiram Gay and the late Annie Ruth Jones Gay Jordan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Gay, Larry Gay and Tommy Gay; sister, Robbie Jordan Marcum; and step-father, George Robert Jordan. He retired from Snapper. Donnie enjoyed cooking and gardening, fixing things, and raising small animals. He was a member of Worthville Baptist Church. Donnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Mae Ingram Gay; son, Donnie L. “Chip” Gay, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie Gay Culpepper (Perry), Bobbie Jordan Morgan (Brice), Dianne Jordan Korneghy (Larry); several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Gay will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bobby Hooks, Pastor Richard Culpepper, and Pastor Dale Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Worthville Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
