Mrs. Shirley Ann Johnson King, age 79, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Southern Crescent Hospital in Riverdale. She was born on Wednesday, April 6, 1938 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Doyle Johnson and the late Tommie Lou Webb Johnson. Shirley was a member of Gospel Light Church in Jackson and loved to sing at church. She worked at Westbury Medical Care Home for over 46 years. Shirley loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Farris Hilton “Choppy” King, and four brothers. Shirley is survived by her son, Dennis King (Lynn); grandson, Ryan Bates (Summer); great-grandchildren, Ayden Bates and Tatum Bates; sister, Gail Coe (Cecil); brothers, Frank Johnson, Robert Johnson, Leslie Johnson (Pat); several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley King will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Pete Page officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday evening and other times at Lynn’s home.
