Mr. Ray Thaxton, age 86, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at The Hope House, Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin. He was born Sunday, August 14, 1932 in Jackson son of the late Dewey Thaxton and the late Nannie Lou Mangham Thaxton. Ray was a member of Towaliga Baptist Church.  He was retired from Snapper Power Equipment. Ray loved sports and was an avid golfer.  He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

 

Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethryn Thaxton of Jackson; children, Carey Thaxton (Angie), of Jackson, Laura Roberts (Chuck) of Griffin, Janice Green of Jackson; grandchildren, Thomas Green (Amanda), Anna Horne (Justin), Samantha Baldridge (Eric), Brandon Thaxton, Christina Wiggins (Jason), Ashley Bruce (Nick); six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service for Ray Thaxton will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rudy Mangham and Joe Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O.
