Mrs. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Bates Adams, age 72, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019, at Piedmont Henry Hospital. She was born Monday, March 3, 1947, to the late Thomas G. Bates and the late Mildred Griffin Bates. Gwen was of Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Bates. 

 

Gwen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Merl Adams; children and their spouses, Shane and Kim Adams, Penny McGalliard, Christie Smith, and Danny and Tomi Adams; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A graveside service for Mrs. Gwen Adams will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2019, at Green Pine Cemetery, 96281 Green Pine Road, Yulee, Florida 32097. The family will receive friends at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 P.M.
