Obituary of Elsie Ruth O'Kelley

Mrs. Elsie Ruth Mitchell O’Kelley, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020, in her home. She was born on Monday, November 1, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late James Alton Mitchell and Elise Irene Withers Mitchell. Ruth enjoyed bookkeeping and housekeeping. She loved going to the beach. Ruth was a member of McDonough Baptist Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by husband, Herbert Hoover O’Kelley, Sr, and brother, James Arthur Mitchell.
Ruth is survived by her children and their spouses, Herbert O’Kelley, Merilyn O’Kelley, and Robert and Anne O’Kelley; grandchildren, Steve O’Kelley, Stacy O’Kelley, and Shane O’Kelley; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lanelle Mitchell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Ralph Alexander, Rachel and Robby Robinson; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Ruth O’Kelley will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend James West officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfuneralhome.com
