


Obituary of Maynette Smith
Mrs. Maynette Britton Smith, age 83, of Britton Road, Jackson, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Maynette was born on Friday, November 21, 1941 in the Towaliga Community of Butts County, to the late Letson Britton and the late Dorothy Thompson Britton. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Trina Smith Belvin; and her brother, Richard “Dickie” Britton. Maynette was a 1959 graduate of Jackson High School and then later Gordon Junior College. She retired from the Butts County school system as a secretary at Henderson Middle School. Maynette was a lifelong member of Towaliga Baptist Church. She served there as the church clerk; secretary and then President of the Towaliga Baptist Women.
Maynette is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wynsol G. Smith; son, Dana Smith; grandchildren, Richard (Ricky) Smith, Ashley Belvin (Justin), Aaron Belvin and Hannah Smith, seven great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kayleigh Smith, Emily and Abby Belvin, Bailey Smith, Scarlett and Eli Pierce; sister, Claudette Britton Harper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion & Donna Britton, Robbie & Donna Britton; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
A funeral service for Mrs. Maynette B. Smith will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Towaliga Baptist Church with Mr. Phil Britton officiating. Interment will follow in the Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Friends may visit the family prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the church. The family suggest, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Rod Mangham, 667 Lee Maddox Road, Jackson, GA 30233 in memory of Mrs. Maynette Britton Smith.
