Obituary of Billy Ridgway
Mr. William “Billy” Troy Ridgway, Sr., age 74, passed away Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at his home.
Billy was a native of Butts County, having been born Saturday, December 30, 1950, to Ruth English Ridgway and Calvin Lanier Ridgway, Sr. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Maridel Ridgway Mitchell and Susannah Ridgway Deaver. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Will and Michelle Ridgway; daughter and son-in-law, Petey and Cory Yielding; grandchildren, Jake and Mia Ridgway, Caylon, Case, Camry and Trevor Yielding; his brother, Calvin Lanier (Bub) Ridgway, Jr.; and his nieces and nephews.
Billy grew up in the Towaliga area. He served in the Army National Guard. He was, from an early age, a dairy farmer and, along with his brother, grew or raised most everything that was consumed by the Ridgway families. He loved to fish and hunt and sing. Billy was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Later in life, he worked at Wilco Truck Stop until he retired.
He especially loved his granddaughter, Caylon. Caylon lived in his basement apartment and helped feed and take care of him and was always entertainment to him when she was around. The family is forever grateful for all she has done for him, while also wearing her huge, beautiful smile.
