Obituary of Alice Smith
Smith, Alice
Mrs. Alice Mae (Vaughn) Smith, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, in her room at Autumn Village.
Alice was born on Monday, November 19, 1934, in Griffin, Georgia to the late George Clifford Vaughn and the late Martha Jane (Jones) Vaughn. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and younger sister; her husband, Reverend James Talmadge Smith; daughter, Patsy Ann Rabuck; son, Ricky Clay Smith; and grandson, MSgt Davy Nathaniel Weaver. Alice retired from the William Carter Company after working as a seamstress for 37 years. Alice had many passions in life, mostly those that revolved around spending time with her family and loving Jesus. She was a member at Lilla Baptist Church. Alice was a Pastor’s wife and upheld that role by being a Sunday school teacher, a member of a Gospel Band, The Gospel Echoes, playing the piano during Sunday Service, and witnessing Christ to anyone who would listen. Alice never met a stranger, she spoke to everyone as if they were old friends, always showing compassion and kindness. She developed a love for puzzles and bingo in her later years.
Alice is survived by her daughter, April Lynne Starling; son, James Skippy Smith; grandchildren, Taylor Cover, Austin Starling, Cynthia Pierce, Emory Weaver, Jessica Denton, Jarred Smith, and Melissa Levy; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
