Obituary of Kazuko Itokazu Maddox
Mrs. Kazuko Itokazu Maddox, known fondly as Kay, age 93, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Kay was born on August 25, 1932, in Okinawa, Japan, to the late Seisho and Kame Itokazu. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester Maddox, and her sons - Edward Sr., Leslie, and Lewis.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Maddox; her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Shelley Maddox; grandchildren, Brianna Cornman, Aleia Maddox, Edward and Amanda Maddox, Daniel and Brandi Maddox, Robert and Jennifer Maddox, Bridgett Pruitt, and Erica Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Brantley, Chance, Chase, Daniel Jr., Jace, Jesse, Kaedyn, Luke, Madyson, Noah, Zach, and Zech, nieces, nephews, and her cherished family members in Okinawa, Japan.
Kay traveled from Okinawa to the United States with her husband Lester in 1954, beginning a life of devotion to her family. She lovingly cared for her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs before her own. Her strength and selflessness were evident in every sacrifice she made for those she loved.
A longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Jackson, Kay was surrounded by a community of friends who cared deeply for her. Her faith, resilience, and kindness touched many lives.
A funeral service for Mrs. Kazuko Maddox will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Sherrell Memorial Chapel, with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, November 2, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and again one hour prior to the service.
