Obituary of Charles Richard Duffey

Mr. Charles Richard Duffey, age 82, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Charles was born on Saturday, December 5, 1942, in Jonesboro, Georgia to the late Ralph Samuel Duffey, Sr and the late Kittie Mae Turner Duffey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie L. Williams Duffey; son, Jeffrey Todd Duffey; son-in-law, Carlton Lunsford; brothers, J.T. Duffey, Ralph Duffey, Oscar Duffey, Ruben (R.W.) Duffey; sister, Eloise Bowen. He was a member of Noah’s Ark Methodist Church. Charles worked for over 20 years with Bowman Transportation and for 15 years in the fleet service department with Henry County, where he retired from in April 2005. He was a farmer and loved his tractor and gardening. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charles especially loved spending time with his family, most of all, his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Donna Lunsford, Teresa and Robert Crowell; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Scott and Gwen Duffey, Mark and Faye Duffey; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service for Mr. Charles Duffey will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in McDonough, Georgia. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home.
