Obituary of Benjamin Franklin Hobbs
Mr. Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Hobbs, age 87, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Ben was born on Wednesday, January 18, 1939, in Decatur, Georgia to the late JW Hobbs and to the late Nora Wilder Hobbs. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Angel Long, and several brothers and sisters. He enjoyed working on anything with a motor and watching and waving at cars when they rode by. Ben will be deeply missed.
Ben is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fannie May Hobbs; children, Peggy Barham, Patsy and Jimmy Evans, Patricia and Johnny Leggett, Tracy and Mike Nichols, Tasha Hobbs (granddaughter), Stormie Banker (great-granddaughter); 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Charles Hammontree, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation for Mr. Ben Hobbs will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home.
