Jesse Hoke East, age 84, of Newnan, GA, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Jesse was the eldest son of the late Hoke and Ruby Bryant East and grew up in the Butts County GA area. He was a veteran of the US Army. After retiring from the trucking industry, Jesse moved to Florida to spend the majority of his retirement years there. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Other than his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by one sister, Louise; and three brothers, Frank, Henry, and William. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wilma East; son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Joy East, of Jonesboro; daughter, Donna East, of Griffin; son, Bobby East, of Sugar Hill; step-daughter, Lisa Taylor, of Newnan; grandchildren, Amber Spradlin, of Newnan, Jason Taylor, of Panama City Beach, FL; sisters, Betty Ann, Sue and Sarah; brothers, Gene, Roy, and Jerry; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Jesse East will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in the Worthville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
