Obituary of Frances Witty
Frances Elizabeth (Betty) Dunning Witty of Jackson, GA. passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at her home at the age of 90. Betty was born in Atlanta, GA. on January 16, 1927 at the Georgia Baptist Hospital. Betty had a multi- faceted career as an accomplished business woman; including designer for J.A. Olson Picture Frame Co in Winona, MS. From there, she went on to start her own picture framing business, The Frame Game, in Stone Mountain, GA. After years of success in this field, Betty moved to Huntsville, AL where she became an owner/manager of multiple apartment complexes. Betty retired in 2000 to her final earthly residence in Jackson, GA. Even in retirement, she was an active volunteer at the Butts Co Chamber of Commerce. Betty loved classical music, art and anything creative. She became very involved with learning and mastering the art of Stain Glass Design. She was extremely capable and did well with anything she attempted. Betty loved her work but considered her greatest accomplishment her family. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Witty Hamilton of Jeffersonville, PA, Julia Witty Weidman of Milton, FL, Susan Witty Evans of Marietta, GA, Caroline Witty Soto of Jackson, GA; sister, Julie Dunning Booth of Grant, AL; brother-in-law, Walter H Witty of Decatur, AL. Betty was also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Betty was loved by many as was evidenced by the number of friends who celebrated her 90th birthday with her. We will always carry your memory in our hearts! A Memorial Service for Betty Witty will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank Shepherd Care Hospice for the loving care given to Mom in her final months with special thanks to Lacy Worthy and Phyllis Simms.
