David Elwood “Bo” McClendon, Sr., of Jackson, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Sacred Journey Hospice. He was born on June 7, 1927 in Jackson, GA to the late Grover Cleveland McClendon, Sr. and the late Emma Pearl Davis McClendon. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, former deacon, song leader, treasurer, Sunday School Teacher; and served in the US Army in WWII. Bo enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening, fishing, outdoors, frog gigging, reading his Bible, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Bo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernice Meredith McClendon; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Richard Helms; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Kim McClendon, Pedro McClendon, Larry McClendon, all of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Bo McClendon will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 1, 2013 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joshua McClendon officiating. Interment will be at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday evening. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Bo.
