Obituary of Robert Hennessy Goforth
Mr. Robert “Bob” Hennessy Goforth, age 72, of Jackson, GA, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Covenant of Golden Age in Jackson. He was born on Sunday, April 14, 1946 to the late Roger W. Goforth and the late Sylvia Sue Hennessy Goforth. Bob was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served as a 1st Lieutenant during the Vietnam War. He was a retired building inspector in Lee County, FL. Bob attended Rock Springs Church. He was a graduate of Briarcliff High School in Atlanta and later became a graduate of Georgia Tech. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and the guitar and going camping. Bob is a member of the Mandarin Lodge No. 343 F. and A. M. in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bob is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Butch Foshee of Forsyth; brother and sister-in-law, Roger W. Goforth, Jr. and Ardy Goforth of Decatur; nephews, Major Gary Foshee of Fort Leavenworth, KS, Peyton Foshee of Atlanta, and Tyler Goforth of Atlanta.
A funeral service for Mr. Bob Goforth will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 27, 2018 in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel in Jackson, Georgia with Dr. Benny Tate and Associate Pastor Blake Trent officiating. Interment will be in the Hillview Annex/LaGrange Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia at 2:30 P.M. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
