When I first moved to Georgia, MawMaw made sure to let me know I was family. One family event she asked me to get the "womp biscuits" out of the refrigerator, being from California I had no idea what she was asking for. After standing with the door open for a bit, she pointed out the can of butter me not on the door. Let's just say the entire family had a good laugh when I looked at her and asked "You mean the CAN of biscuits?" Her response calm as ever was, "Yes, you do womp them on the counter to open them, right?" From there my vocabulary has grown with the southern slang..
