I can remember the first time I met Jimmy and Jewell. My husband and I had bought a house across the street from them in Jackson. We were there one evening painting the house and was taking a break sitting on the front porch when we saw our new neighbors for the first time. This was also the first time we experienced them both talking at the same time. This was the first of many years of us both crossing the street to visit.
Jimmy loved working out in his yard. His grass was always perfect. I tried hard to keep up with him but by the summer his was the prettiest in the neighborhood. Jewell was always out there with him, especially when it came to her plants. They had a garden for years that supplied us with tomatoes and they were delicious!
Jimmy was Jewell’s soulmate. He took such good care of her for years even though he would tell me he was worried that he wouldn’t always be able to as the years passed but he did almost to the end.
Jimmy was one of the finest men that Gary and I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was funny, told us some great stories and, you always hear this but it is true about Jimmy, would give you the shirt off his back.
Jewell, Keith, Trent and Heaven lost a piece of their heart when he lost his battle on earth but he is now free from all the pain and enjoying cutting his heavenly grass on his John Deere.
We miss you Jimmy. We will never meet anyone like you because you were one of a kind. Rest In Peace friend.

Uncle Jimmy the way God wants us to be: gentle, kind, humble, funny, and forever youthful. My favorite memories of him were on Christmas Day at the Shady Rest Farm. He would always walk in the door with a smile on his face. He was never loud or opinionated, rather, quiet and thoughtful. "Think and let think" must have been his philosophy because he always had a peaceful manner about him. He loved his family and he is missing Aunt Jewell at this moment. What a wonderful uncle...and family!
All of us are praying for Aunt Jewell and Keith and Rodney and the rest.

Keith, Jewell, and family,
Our sympathy to you all in the home going of Uncle Jimmy.
He was a very special, sweet, and easy going man. He was loved by all! Keith, you have been a wonderful and devoted son... your Dad was very proud of you! Recall the good memories, and rest assured that Uncle Jimmy is in the arms of his Saviour, and with all the family gone on before!
Love, Jim and Teresa Tarpley

Jewell and Keith: I am sorry that we were not able to be with you today to share your grief and loss and to honor Uncle Jimmy. But I was so glad to hear that some of the family were able to be there with you. Please know that we are praying that the Lord will comfort you and bring you peace during this difficult time.

I remember Jimmy, Floyd Dale and William visiting our family when we lived in College Park near Atlanta. My Dad and them would tell stories and there was always laughter and fun. A few years later, Jimmy and his pretty wife would come. Dad worked at Eastern Air Lines after his WWII service and he talked with Jimmy about applying to the airline. Jimmy did so and began his long career with Delta. I would spend the night at their apartment sometimes and Jimmy was always smiling and kind. Through their many years of marriage Jewell would say that Jimmy was such a good husband. Rest In Peace, Jimmy and tell my Dad and Mom I love them.
