Obituary of W. Hiram Wise

Wilmer Hiram (Cotton) Wise, of Jackson, GA, died Friday, January 13, 2012. He was born December 31, 1924 in Jackson, GA to the late C. B. and Sallie Mae Caston Wise. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Odum Sunday School Class, and he also attended Towaliga Baptist Church. He retired from Overnite Transportation and also worked at Fresh Air BBQ and Butts County Recycling. He enjoyed singing, gardening, deep sea fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Cotton is survived by his wife of 67 yrs, Bessie Lou Cummings Wise; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Julian Marsh; 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Alison and Randy Hutcheson, and Tara and Reggie Collins; 5 great-grandchildren, Logan and Chelsea Collins, Rebekah Collins, Garrett Collins, Morgan and Ansley Hutcheson; great-great-granddaughter, Kynslee Collins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James, and 2 sisters, Malva and Leon. Funeral services for Cotton Wise will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Joe Bufford and Rev. Jay Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Pepperton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday evening.
