Obituary of Cathy Clinton
Please share a memory of Cathy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Saturday, January 9, 2020, after a season of rapid decline, Catherine “Cathy” Mary Clinton, wife, mother, and dear friend, passed away at the age of 69.
Cathy was born on December 10, 1951, in Flushing, NY to Joseph and Nora (Fahy) Sly. On Febuary 14, 1970, she married James “Jimmy’ Edward Clinton, the son of long time family friends. They raised 3 children Helen Ann, James Joseph and Nora Beth. She worked as a nurse until injury caused a change in her career path to cosmetology.
Cathy was known as an outgoing friend and entertainer. From pool parties to barbeques, she loved to be surround by people. The house was always a buzz with friends and neighborhood children alike. The lyrics of the 80’s song Our House by Madness describes her tightly run house “Our house, it has a crowd/There’s always something happening, and it’s usually quite loud/Our mum, she’s so house proud/Nothing ever slows her down , and a mess is not allowed.” She was always ready to grab a friend, their kids and neighboring children and be off to Lake Lanier, Stone Mountain Park, Six Flags or White Water. She was best know for her loving, playful, and jovial spirit.
Cathy has joined the embrace of her parents, Joseph and Nora Sly, and her loving husband James, who preceded her in death. She is survived by Helen Clinton-Cain, James (April) Clinton and Nora Petty, her grandchildren William (Allison) Cain, Thomas Cain, Franklin Petty, James Petty and Rhonda Petty, and her only great-grandchild Lilah Cain. In line with her wishes, there will be no memorial or formal services. The family will be broadcasting her’s and Jimmy’s ashes, in the spring of 2021, at a undisclosed location of their prior choice. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
