Mr. Oscar Eugene “Gene” Wells, Sr., age 82, of Jenkinsburg, GA, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 at Westbury Medical Care Home. He was born May 10, 1930 in Griffin, GA to the late James Butler Wells and the late Cora Lee Ogleby Wells. Mr. Wells was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wells. Mr. Gene Wells is survived by his wife of 18 years, Vera Wells; children, Butch Wells, Bruce Wells, David Kerrison, Deanna and Kenneth McIntyre, Jimmy Kerrison, Leanna and Billy Sims, Patricia Combs and Robby Kerrison; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elzie and Dorothy Wells and Johnny and Betty Wells; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Gene Wells will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 29, 2012 at County Line Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Sellers and Rev. Audie Wells officiating. Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday evening. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.sherrellfh.com. Sherrell Funeral Home, 212 East College Street, Jackson, is serving the Wells family.
