Marian Elizabeth (Dish) Nelson, of Jackson, GA, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Westbury Medical Care Home. She was born July 20, 1924 in Decatur, GA to the late Waymon Childress and the late Ina Gibbs Childress. She attended Sardis Baptist Church, enjoyed sleeping, taking care of grandchildren, cooking, racing, and loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ned Heard, of Snellville; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Liz Nelson, of Flovilla, Wayne and Peggy Nelson, of Jackson; 8 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister and bother-in-law, Gayle and Larry Segers, of Monticello; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nelson, sister, Nancy Ellington, and brother, Jake Childress. Grave side funeral services for Elizabeth (Dish) Nelson will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Hershel Childs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:30 - 2:30 PM. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrellfh.com. Sherrell Funeral Home, 212 E. College Street, is serving the Nelson family.
