Mrs. Frances "Mitzi" Chaffin, age 88 of Hampton, Georgia passed away Wednesday April 25, 2012. She was born December 11, 1924, raised in East Point, and was the daughter of the late Fred M. and Sarah Long Couch. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Hampton where she sang in the Choir, a board member of the Henry County Sheriffs Youth Development Department, a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Hampton Lodge #70, and a Surgical Technician in the US Army during World War II. In recent years, Mitzi was a resident of Autumn Village Assisted Living home. Mitzi is survived by her 3 daughters and son-in-law, Jamie and Tony Hendricks of Milner, Lee Anne McClure of Forest Park and Mary Lou Chaffin of Hampton, a special cousin Jimmy Reid of McDonough, several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, J.C. Chaffin and by her daughter Sandra Corley. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at Sherrell Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with interment at Berea Cemetery in Hampton. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 5 until 8 PM. Sherrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Frances "Mitzi" Chaffin.
