Obituary of Bonnie Campbell

Mrs. Bonnie Mae McPherson Campbell passed away on October 23, 2012 at age 102. She was born on a farm in Haralson County, Georgia on June 14, 1910. In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, she worked full time outside the home for her entire adult life until retiring in her mid 70’s. Mrs. Campbell resided in Jackson, Georgia for many years. She is predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, Borden Burr Campbell, her eldest son, Borden McPherson Campbell and a brother Ermon Mitchell “Buck” McPherson, parents, Ivy Hoke and Nellie Hamrick McPherson. In 2010, on the occasion of her 100th birthday, she was interviewed by a newspaper reporter who asked her the secret of her long life. She replied: “God has blessed me all my life.” She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles Edward and Ann Campbell of Atlanta, Georgia and Kenneth Hamrick Campbell of Mary Ester, Florida. She is also survived by a sister, Edna McPherson Barton, and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Alonzo Purcel “Bud” McPherson and Joseph Edward “Ed” and Barbara McPherson all of Bremen, Georgia, as well as three grandchildren, Richard Edward Campbell, Sr., Kenneth Hamrick Campbell, Jr. and Garrett McPherson Campbell, and a number of great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Hammonds officiating. She will be buried in the Bremen City Cemetery next to the graves of her husband and oldest son. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the First Baptist Church of Bremen, Georgia, Sardis Baptist Church of Palmetto, Georgia or Towaliga Baptist Church of Jackson, Georgia.
