Obituary of Philip Dedric Dowdy

Mr. Philip Dedric Dowdy, age 64, of Flovilla, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Philip was born on Friday, July 11, 1958, to the late Andrew “Leon” Dowdy and the late Sally Thomas Dowdy. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Andy Dowdy. Philip served in the United States Army and the Georgia Army National Guard and was an active member of Jackson Christian Church.  He enjoyed cooking, flying Huey Helicopters (he was the crew chief), and loved NASCAR.

Philip is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Dowdy; children, Matthew Dowdy, Devon Dowdy; grandchildren, John and Rylee Linville, Jared and Alyssa Linville, Jay Carlisle; great-grandson, Ryder Linville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mickey and Pat Dowdy, Eddie and Renee Dowdy; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Philip Dowdy will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. and he will lie in state one hour prior at the Jackson Christian Church with Pastor Daniel Wright officiating.  Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
