Obituary of John Tracy Jones, Sr.
Mr. John Tracy Jones, Sr., age 79, of Flovilla, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Sylvan Grove Hospital
John was born on Wednesday, November 17, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John Albert Jones Sr. and the late Emma Estelle Mashburn Jones. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Evan Garner; brothers, John Albert Jones Jr. and George H. Jones. John served in the United States Air Force and attended Jackson Presbyterian Church. He owned a retail clothing store for many years, The Jeans Stop. His family jokingly called him the fashion police from his vast knowledge of dressing people. He was an avid UGA fan and was always willing to help others. John never met a stranger and would always convey how blessed he was.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sheryl Moore Jones; children and spouses, John Jr. and Sandra Jones, David and Angie Jones, Cindy and Matt Runion, Becky and Jason Garner, Nealie and Joel Cannington, Nick Evans, 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Redgie Camp.
A memorial service for Mr. John Jones will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Sherrell Memorial Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. S. Ed Hoard officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Jackson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 664, Jackson, GA 30233.
