James Willard (Bubba) Godwin, Sr., of Locust Grove, GA, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at his residence. He was born on March 21, 1949 in Atlanta, GA to the late Julian Kutner Godwin and Jessie M. Ayers Godwin Savage. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war recieving the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He enjoyed motorcyle riding, telling jokes and making others laugh, and loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Godwin, and sisters, Teresa Godwin and Wanda Cook. James is survived by his wife, ReneƩ Jordan Godwin, of Locust Grove; daughter, Misty Godwin, of Locust Grove; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, James and MaryAnn Godwin, of Locust Grove, Steve and Rachael Godwin, of Molina, GA, Jesse Godwin, of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Destin, James III, Gabby, Kevin, Summer and Aiden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tracy and Kaye Godwin, of Monroe, Timothy and Kat Godwin, of McDonough, Tommy and Brenda Savage, of Locust Grove; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Fred Moore, Debra and Harry Knissel, Jeannie Godwin, all of Jackson, Sandra Sauls, Lake City, GA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for James (Bubba) Godwin, Sr. will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hewatt officiating. Entombment will be at Locust Grove City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday evening.
