Obituary of Rayford Thomas Cleveland
Mr. Rayford Thomas “Tommy” Cleveland, age 75, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Tommy was born on Sunday, June 6, 1948, in Jackson, Georgia to the late Marshall Howard Cleveland and the late Bertha Jefferies Cleveland. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carol Rice Cleveland; brother, Jerrell Cleveland; sisters, Carol Anderson, Sarah English, Margaret Greenwood. Tommy served in the United States Army and in the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart. He later worked as a machinist for Snapper. He enjoyed going to the mountains and the beach, fishing at Jackson Lake, and cutting grass on a Snapper mower. Tommy loved classic cars and was a big NASCAR fan.
Tommy is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Melinda and Keith Crabb; grandchildren, Rebecca Crabb, Jeremy Crabb, Brandon Crabb; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Jimmy Cook, Martha Miller, Dorothy and Budd Cronan; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Tommy Cleveland will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Sherrell Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the funeral home.
