My sincere condolences to the family. Al was our tax preparer for over 25 years and I was always the one who would wait until the last minute to reach out to him. He was always kind and willing to provide guidance. We appreciated his service. It was always a pleasure to speak with him.
Sincere Condolences,

Although I never met Al in person he’s been doing my taxes for 15 years. Al worked with my mother Dorothy Simister at GSA. In 2006 when she passed away I discovered her tax paperwork and found Al’s name and discovered he had been doing her taxes. I reached out to Al to inquire about what needed to be done for my moms final tax return and subsequent estate issues. Al was surprised at my moms passing and spoke very highly of her. He said he thoroughly enjoyed working with my mother and he offered advice and to handle her final tax issues. That meant so much to me, what a nice man! He was so honest and caring so I asked him to be my tax preparer and he gladly accepted. What a smart and caring man! I only wish I had the opportunity to meet him in person.

Grandpa,
Thank you for loving me as one of your own.
You taught Ian everything he knows about being a wonderful man and I couldn’t be more thankful. I promise to keep him safe for you.
Remember to not give God too many problems!
See ya later old man,
Love Avery
ps. Go Dawgs!
I never thought this day would come, at least not this soon. Grandpa I love you. You were the most kind, funny, and warm hearted person I know (besides Grandma of course). Thank you for being there for Mom, Katelyn, and Kristine through everything we went through in life. Thank you for loving Grandma for as long as you did (even though you couldn't believe it was that long).Thank you for loving Avery as part of the family. Thank you for being there for me, coming to all my baseball and football games, always saying you were the better baseball player even though everyone knows I was, but most importantly thank you for being the dad I didn't have growing up, for being someone I could look up too for how to be a great person, a great man, a great husband, and someday a great dad. I am so thankful for the times we had together, and I will never forget any of them. I hate you had to leave so soon, but it will be ok, Heaven got their mob boss and umpire they have been needing for a long time. You can always be flying like an eagle now. I love you.

Dad, I honestly don't know what to say. Thank you for loving me unconditionally, for supporting me in everything I ever did. I think what I'll miss most is pure time together, just you and me, getting pizza like we did when I was a kid, and hanging out just talking. Thank you for giving me your love of baseball, amaretto and chianti. I'll never forget your smile, especially how it looked when I asked if I was your favorite. You will always be in my heart. I love you.
Love always,
Jenn, aka Your Favorite ❤️

Grandpa,
There are many reasons to love you. So many reasons that it would take up the entire memory book. My favorite memory of you comes when I was a kid. You took me to a Braves game at Turner Field; you hated the Braves, but still took me to see them play. You got me Dip-In-Dots and a pizza (it might have been a hot dog, but it was some type of food). I also remember the Braves had El Oso Blanco playing for them at the time and were selling white bear hats. I asked you to buy me one and you did. I still have that hat somewhere in my room. I will never forget that day.
My favorite story of you comes from my mother. She told me there was a family in need of money. You did not hesitate to give the grocery check you give to Grandma to that family instead. You told Grandma that you guys would survive. It was very selfless of you to do that. I try every day to live up to that level of selflessness.
I love you and I miss you. Thank you for everything.
Sincerely, Your Grandson
Brendan

Dad,
Thanks for all the memories—the ones shared with others, and the ones between the two of us, which are all the more precious now. Thank you for always being there. I will miss hearing your voice on the other end of the phone, giving me a hard time, staring contests, the way you hugged, just you being here. The world is a little darker now, but heaven is a little brighter. I miss you. I love you, Daddy.
Love,
Bonnie

I have known Al since I arrived in Georgia over 50 years ago. My husband Frank and Al were in the Military together and that's how I met Ginger and Al. My oldest son Ryan was just a baby when we met. Although Frank and I divorced 29 years ago, Al and Ginger remained my closet friend's in Georgia. I was devastated when I heard of Al's accident and passing. He will be missed so much. My heart goes out to Ginger, my best friend, and his girls who feel like my own. I love you all so much and I am so sorry for your loss.
Much Love, Shirl Stackhouse

We have lost a friend I have known for over 30 years. I met Al through softball umpiring and eventually enlisted him to do my taxes when I learned that he did that kind of work after he retired. He has done my taxes and my partner, Mava Marston's taxes, for about two decades. We would meet once a year with Ginger and him for dinner and to catch up on the events of the previous year. Al was always busy being Mr. GHSAA and Mr. USA Softball, and doing taxes, but he always made time for us. In our minds he was a good man, honest, knowledgeable and likeable. We will miss him but will always remember the pleasant times we spent visiting with Ginger and him each year.

Al was a long-time family friend and our Tax Accountant for many years. He was a stickler for following complicated tax filing rules, always taking the time to educate us. We had many joyous times from the large Italian picnics at the lake to a latest dinner with Al and family at LongHorn (not a favorite due to the lack of Italian liqueurs!). He will truly be missed. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Dattolo family at this time.
Much Love, Steve and Kim McKenzie, and family.

I've known Al for over 25 years and he was my financial Father, helping me with everything involving taxes, real estate and stocks. I also joined the ASA umpire association where I first met Al, Anthony and Graybill. For many years, I enjoyed umpiring with all of them.
My most enjoyable times are when Al and I talked on the phone. First, I was special because he actually answered my call and talked with me. Then we'd exchange some sarcastic comments, laugh, and finally get down to business. I always felt like a daughter because he gave such honest advice.
He always called me "kiddo".
You will be deeply missed, Al!
With much Love,
Kathy
