Obituary of Hilda James

Hilda King James, age 86, of Jackson, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. She was born on August 1, 1927 in Jackson, GA to the late James Oliver (Ollie) King and the late Annie Louise Castleberry King. Hilda loved the Lord and was a member of Towaliga Baptist Church. She served as Butts County Tax Commissioner from 1983 until 2004, was Tax Commissioner of the Year, a member of Georgia Association of Tax Officials, a long-standing member of Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia, and was a member of the Jackson Business and Professional Women. Hilda loved her family very much. She is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey James. Hilda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Charles Washington of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Vicky James of Canton; grandchildren, Annie Marie Washington and her close friend, Brian Meeler, Rian Wesley James, Olivia Ann James, and Tanner Ray James; great-grandson, Gunner Washington; sister, Betty Leonard of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Hilda James will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Towaliga Baptist Church with Reverend Jay Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Pepperton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
