Mr. Joe Benjamin New, age 72, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Open Arms Personal Care Home in Jackson. Joe was born on Monday, August 24, 1942 in Harrison, GA to the late Lloyd Daniel New, Sr. and the late Benny Frank Jackson New. He was an inspector for American Can Company. Joe was a member of Stark United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd D. New, Jr. and Reg New. Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Paula F. New; children, Joey New, Jeff and Donna New, Jill and Jon Morris; grandchildren, Trent Yarbrough, Audrey New, Adeline New; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Joe New will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Stark United Methodist Church with Reverend Frank Brock officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or the Stark United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1097 Halls Bridge Road, Jackson, GA 30233 in memory of Joe.
