Obituary of Howell Lee Cook

Howell Lee “Nub” Cook, age 86, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Westbury Medical Care Home. Nub was born on Sunday, September 9, 1928 in Jackson, GA to the late Robert Wesley Cook and the late Alberta Eliza Barham Cook. He served in the United States Navy, was a Mason, a member of Stark United Methodist Church, and a retired Butts County Deputy. Nub loved to work on cars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jane Richardson Cook; brother, James Cook; and sister, Sara Kelly. Nub is survived by his children, Jimmy and Bonnie Cook, Ronnie and Wanda Cook, Dolores and Robbie Selman; grandchildren, April Waits, Wesley Cook, Lori Valdez, Brad Selman, Kelly Selman; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Maurice Cook, William L. Cook, Billy F. Cook; sisters, Ruby Norwood, Doris Smith; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Howell “Nub” Cook will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy L. Mangham officiating. Interment will be at Stark United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
