Obituary of Kent Lawson

Marcus Kent Lawson, age 54, a life-long resident Jackson, GA, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his home after battling cancer and a number of health issues. He was born on February 26, 1961 in Monticello, GA to Fay Washington Lawson and the late William Calvin Lawson. Kent was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he played the organ for several years. He was a cosmetologist and a registered nurse. Kent loved God and loved all people, especially his children and family. He is preceded in death by his father, William Calvin Lawson, and grandparents, Otis Washington, and Lucious and Viola Lawson. Kent is survived by his four children, Marcus Lawson of Griffin, Mason Lawson and Andrea of Locust Grove, Dollie Lawson Cook and Keith of Griffin, Jessie Lawson, of Griffin; mother, Fay Washington Lawson of Jackson; sisters, Robin Lawson Cowart and Donald of Williamson, April Lawson Herrmann of Jackson; brothers, Chris Lawson and Sandi of Jackson, Danny Lawson and Christy of Forsyth; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lawson and Chloe Lawson of Locust Grove, and Gavin Cook of Griffin; grandmother, Nina Washington of Jackson. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Kent Lawson will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Michael Saffels and Reverend Cameron Shiflett officiating. Interment will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
