Mr. William Robert East, age 72, of Jackson, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at his residence. William was born on Friday, June 4, 1943 in Covington, GA to the late Hoke East and the late Ruby Bryant East. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. William was a long-time truck driver working for several companies, among them J.M. Tull and Collins Trucking. He received a One Million Mile Safety Award. He is preceded in death by a brother, Henry, and a sister, Louise. William is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Tammy East and Robby East; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene, Jesse, Frank, Roy, and Jerry; sisters, Sue, Ann, and Sarah; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for William East will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Benny Tate and Mr. Rudy L. Mangham officiating. At his request, cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
