Betty Joann James Moss, age 83, of Jackson, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Brightmoor Hospice. She was born on Friday, June 17, 1932 in Pepperton, Georgia to the late Walter Copeland James and the late Lucille Secrell Turner James. Betty attended Cedar Rock Church. She loved to read, play Bingo, her church, and gospel singing. Betty dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Lanier James. Betty is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William Lanier and Patty Moss, Walter Daniel and Lonnie Moss, Tim and Debby Moss; grandchildren, Kristy Williams, Joseph Moss, Brandy Harrison, Heather Moss, Danielle Phillips, Katie Bagwell, Brent Moss, Brittany Hamby; 8 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Ben Barnes; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Betty Moss will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Pepperton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening and at other times at the home of Lanier and Patty Moss. Flowers will be accepted, however those who wish may make contributions to the Cedar Rock Church Benevolence Fund, 1479 Highway 36 East, Jackson, GA 30233 in memory of Betty. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com. Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home, 212 East College Street, Jackson, is serving the Moss family.
