Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Merritt, age 78, of Jackson, GA, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at his home. He was born on Friday, August 6, 1937 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Murray Meacham Merritt and the late Myrtle Olivia McSwain Merritt. Mr. Merritt was retired from the United States Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam. He also retired from the Atlanta Journal. He worked at the Chevron Station where he was known as “Mr. Bob”, the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center, and Dixie Tool and Die. He was preceded in death by his wife, Treasha Lavonne York Merritt.
Mr. Merritt is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jackie Merritt of Conyers, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Woody Thayer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren, Matthew Merritt, Adrian Sanvidge, Keith Sanvidge; great-grandchildren, Alec Gabriel Sanvidge, Tommy Sanvidge, and Amelia Merritt; several nieces and nephews.
Grave side memorial services for Mr. Bob Merritt will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com
