Obituary of Shirley McKenzie

Mrs. Shirley Gaye Evans McKenzie, age 78, of Jackson, GA, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Westbury Medical Care Home. She was born on Thursday, October 20, 1938 in Montezuma, GA to the late Otis Evans and the late Jewell Rowland Evans. Shirley was an executive accounts specialist with Delta Airlines before her retirement. She enjoyed quilting and in addition to making quilts for each grandchild and most of her great grandchildren, she is noted for the quilt made for the Finland Delegation at the Atlanta Olympic Games. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddy Paul McKenzie.
Shirley is survived by her children, Sheryl Bare and husband Kirk, Scott McGee and wife Roxann; step-children, Dana Ellington and husband Greg, Donna McKenzie; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Della Keith, Joyce McCall, June Butler; brother-in-law, Jimmy McKenzie.
Funeral services for Shirley McKenzie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Russ Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
