Obituary of Martha Almond

Mrs. Martha Margaret Moss Almond, age 86, of Jackson, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, February 5, 1930 in Flovilla, GA to the late William Jones Moss, Sr. and the late Lois Elizabeth Fogg Moss. Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. She owned the former Townhouse Restaurant and Falls View Restaurant. Martha sold real estate and insurance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Almond; sister, Helen Moss Robinson; and half-sisters, Doris Blessett, Kate Bennett, and Edna Kitchens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Almond; sister, Helen Moss Robinson; and half-sisters, Doris Blessett, Kate Bennett, and Edna Kitchens Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Heath; grandchildren, Cindy and John Cook; great-grandchildren, Will Cook and Rhett Cook; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Lanier King, Gloria and Tony King; brothers, W.J. Moss, Oliver Moss; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, O’Narie Scott. Funeral services for Martha Almond will be conducted on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mike Burge and Mr. Ralph Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service and at other times at Mrs. Martha’s residence.
