James Clifford Stanton, age 79, of Jackson, GA, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Sacred Journey Hospice. He was born on Wednesday, April 28, 1937 in Atlanta, GA to the late William James Stanton and the late Mary Ruth Cash Stanton. James was a carpenter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ruth Higgins. James is survived by his wife, Wynell Stanton; children, Patricia Darlene Smith, Mary Elaine Bryant, James Clifford Stanton, Jr., Renita Ann Higgins, Sharon Lynne Cruz, Carol Annette Martinez; 9 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Lamar Stanton, Charles Richard Stanton, Michael Todd Stanton; sisters, Betty Louise Rawlins, Glenda Kay Gibson, Sandra Obarr, Wanda Jean Stanton; brother-in-law, Leonard Price; a large number of nieces and nephews Funeral services for James Stanton will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Preacher Buddy Waldron officiating. Interment will be at Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.
