Mrs. Nora Margarette Blanford Starrett, age 95, of McDonough, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Golden Retreat Personal Care Home at McDonough. She was born on Friday, August 26, 1921 in Atlanta, GA to the late John F. Blanford and Grace Jenkins Blanford. Mrs. Starrett was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Covington. She loved to crochet, knit, and sew. Mrs. Starrett had made about a thousand Christmas stockings over the years for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Cleveland Starrett; sisters, Frances Blanford Thompson and Maureen Blanford Cook; and a brother, George Blanford. Mrs. Starrett is survived by her brother, Tracy (Billie) Blanford of Ellenwood, GA; sister-in-law, Ruth Blanford, of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, Barbara Little, Becky Ramsey, and Sandra James who helped care for her the last few years as well as several other nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mrs. Margarette Starrett will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Richard Culpepper officiating. Interment will follow in the College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
