Obituary of Dorothy Combs

Mrs. Dorothy Steele Combs, age 96, of Concord, GA passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Westbury Medical Care Home. She was born on Sunday, July 11, 1920 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Morton C. Steele and the late Myrtle Morris Steele. Mrs. Combs was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved square dancing, flowers, sewing, the outdoors and nature. Not one to be idle, Mrs. Combs was always doing things for other people. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh English and Quigg Hollingsworth, and siblings, Robert Steele, Frances Carter, and Charles Steele. Mrs. Combs is survived by her daughter, Vivian Palmer and husband, Ralph, of Concord; granddaughters, Chanda Steele and husband, Wayne, of Concord, GA; April Rush and husband, Mike, of Greensboro, GA; grandson, Tyki Palmer and wife, Teresa, of Ft. Pierce, FL; great-grandchildren, Summer Steele, Carter Steele, Brett Parker, Spencer Rush; sisters, Margaret Waller, Jo Ann Meaders, Jean Williams and husband, Roy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and husband, Oliver B. Combs. Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Combs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jim Pitts officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
