Mrs. Gretchen Maddox Williams, of Jackson, GA died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Sacred Journey Hospice. She was born August 4, 1912 in Brewton, GA to the late William Dessie and Emmie Mimbs Maddox. She was the oldest member of Jackson United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and loved spending time with her family and friends. Miss Gretchen is survived by her daughter, Judy Williams Guelde, of Jackson, GA; grandson, John and Valerie Guelde, of Kissimmee, FL; granddaughter, Beth and David Cox, of Orlando, FL; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lillian Bush, of Dublin, Lois Hicks, of Covington, Margie Webb, of Garner, NC; several nieces and nephews; and her "Walking Angels", Linda Bailey, Barbara Goodman and Jessie Woodard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Wilbur (Red) Williams; 2 sisters and a brother. Funeral services for Mrs. Gretchen Williams will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Brantley officiating. Interment will be at Brewton Cemetery in Brewton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday.
