Clinton Humphrey McDonald, age 82, of Locust Grove, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was born on Thursday, January 3, 1935 in Parkersburg, West Virginia and was a charter member of the Heritage Baptist Church, Locust Grove, Ga. He was an ordained Deacon of the Independent Baptist Faith. He was active in the church’s soul winning ministry. He also enjoyed watching college football and playing golf with brothers of the church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Mae McDonald, and daughter, Donna Stokes.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances McDonald of Locust Grove, GA; daughter, Sharon McDonald of Locust Grove, GA; son, Barry and Karrie McDonald of McDonough, GA; daughter, Rhonda and Randy Morris of Merritt Island, FL; son, Russell Cronin of Hyde Park NY; and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Mr. McDonald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and was Honorably Retired in 1974. While on active duty he served as a Drill Instructor, a Radar Operator, and Squadron First Sergeant. He was on active duty during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning to civilian life, Mr. McDonald drove a school bus for 3 years, and then was a tractor-trailer driver for 15 years with Allegheny Freight Lines and Conoco/Dupont.
A funeral service for Mr. Clinton Humphrey McDonald will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Terrell Hopkins and Pastor Steve Cape officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
