Ms. Odessa Dawn “Cissy” Gilmore Phillips, age 39, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at her residence. Cissy was born on Tuesday, February 21, 1978 in, Covington, Georgia to Debbie Thurston-Posey and Charles M. Gilmore, Jr. She enjoyed hiking and shopping. Cissy loved her children dearly. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Jay Posey, and step-mother, Charlene Gilmore. In addition to her parents, Cissy is survived by her children, Briana and Jonathan McWhorter, Jeremiah Gilmore, and Robert Phillips; brother, Tony and Ivy Gilmore; nieces, Gracie and Layla; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services for Cissy Phillips will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ed Hoard officiating. Interment will follow in Pepperton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Development Office, 1762 Clifton Road, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322 in memory of Odessa “Cissy” Phillips.
