I am so sorry for your family's loss. "Chaplain Joe" is a name I've heard from my son, Jason Richardson, who is a professional truck driver, and who has become one of the road chaplains under "Chaplain Joe's" tutelage and Christian mentoring. I'm thankful for the ministering Jason received from him, and his ministry to all of the trucking family driving our roads. I'm very proud of my son and the witness he has, the work he does and the work ethic associated with it. He truly embodies the words found in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Chaplain Joe lived that, and he will be missed. The work God called him to do here on earth is finished. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant!"

My husband and I stopped TA on our way down to Albany, Ga, we went in and had dinner and found that Chaplin Joe was there and we ended up sitting with him for over a half hour. We had the best conversation with him. My husband and I always had to miss church due to our schedule, it was just the best time we had sitting with Chaplin Joe, it just made our night. He took the time to sit with us to talk about trucking when he should of been with his wife and other family members. He just loved talking to truckers and he could just sit with them for many hours. He was such a great man, God said it was time for him to stop suffering with his cancer and join him.
He will be missed as we do keep up on what is happening with the trucking industry as we have now retired.
God Bless this man as he will be missed!!!
Thank You for your time Chaplin Joe Hunter!

Our condolences to the family. We will always remember the vacations we took together & all the laughs we've shared. Joe delvered a message like no other. We were so fortunate to be with him & Jan during several of them. Joe was such a special person in so many ways. We we're on a vacation once with Joe & Jan & Joe got a phone call. It was from someone about to commit suicide. He kept this person on the phone talking to them about the Lord & in the meantime letting Jan know to call someone at the chapel at the location this person happened to be. Someone arrived there shortly & the man changed his mind all because Joe cared enough for a complete stranger. Joe will be missed so very much & his laugh will always be in our memories.

My friend and brother Chaplain Joe Hunter..... It doesn't seem like enough to say that. How many times we talked and shared the Lord and ministered together, at his jamborees at Jackson, at the Truck shows , on the phone, we always understood each other . We rooted for each other in ministry and in life. In leadership in another trucking ministry, I shared many things with him in that mantle of leadership and the challenges we faced. Always back to back having each others back. I know even now Jan and TruckStop Ministries are still with me as my friends, brothers and sisters. No it is not enough to really describe what we mean to each other and much of the time we don't fully realize it tlll that time is gone. I will never forget you only continue,to do the work of the ministry and knowing we will meet again in that day when I see Jesus face to face. Roll on with Jesus Reverend Mark Hewett Association of Christian Truckers

There’s a gospel song that’s dear to my heart. It’s title is “ I stand the Tallest when I’m down on my knees. Joe Hunter stood as Tall as anyone I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was not only a tall man in stature but a TALL servant for Jesus. I’ve see God shining thru the eyes of Joe. He truly was a great man of God. He will be sorely missed by many but tonight he’s singing praises to his Heavenly Father. I’ll see you again my friend
