Obituary of Charles Edward “Charlie” Watkins

Mr. Charles “Charlie” Edward Watkins, age 81, of Monticello, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.
Charlie was born on Friday, September 9, 1938, in Decatur, Georgia to the late John James Watkins Sr. and the late Lillian Hancock Watkins. He worked as a Service manager for Thyssen Dover Elevator Company for 41 years. Charlie attended Macedonia Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. He and Gean, met at Jackson Lake at Martin’s Marina in 1960, and they got to come back to the lake and spend 32 years together. Charlie was a family man and loved gathering with them at his home on the lake. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Watkins, Jimmy Watkins, and Ken Watkins; and sister, Susan Hyde.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gean Lynn Watkins; daughters, Angie Watkins, Debbie Watkins & Cindy Peevy; son and daughter-in-law, Keith Watkins & Melanie Watkins; grandchildren, Meagan Pike, Tyler Watkins, and Britney Watkins; great-grandchildren, Kenton Pike and Karmyn Pike; several nieces & nephews.
A celebration of life to honor Mr. Charlie Watkins will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. The family asks in lieu of flowers, to please consider making a memorial contribution to Macedonia Baptist Church, Revive the Vision, in memory of Mr. Charlie Watkins.
