Obituary of Valerie Dean Belew
Ms. Valerie Dean Belew, age 71, of Jackson, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Valerie was born on Tuesday, September 26, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Elvin Elwood Belew and the late Francis Elizabeth Digby Belew. Valerie's lifelong passion for music inspired her to write many songs. She also wrote poetry and published a novel, Undercover: Our Secret Obsessions. She loved art and was herself a talented painter. She always loved animals, and her pets, most recently Jax and Tara, were a major part of her life.
Valerie earned her bachelor's degree at Georgia Southern University and later earned a double master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling and Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Before her most recent professional role as an independent contractor with Infinite Possibilities, she had a long and varied career supervising residential substance abuse facilities. Her vocation was more than a job for her; it was a calling. She was passionate about her work, and truly cared about her clients.
Valerie is survived by her siblings: Stephanie (Paul) Debry of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Cheryl (Robert E.) Pitts of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Beverly Haren of Locust Grove, Georgia, and James D. (Cathy) Belew of Jonesboro, Georgia. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and by thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews.
